On the auspicious occasion of paying tribute to Dr. Purnendu Bikash Sarkar, Ophthalmological Society of West Bengal gave him “Manpotro” and acknowledged his book “Gitabitan Tatthyobhandar” for which he was honoured Ananda Purashkar 1429. The tribute was given at Rangamancha, Swabhumi on 28th May, 2023 at 1.30 pm in the afternoon by the office- bearers of the Society.
Dr. Purnendu Bikash Sarkar spent his early childhood in Gobordanga of North 24 Pgs. He studied MBBS from Calcutta Medical College.
In 1995 he founded the Salt Lake Eye Foundation.
From the very beginning Dr. Sarkar made his own software for computer generated data record and used printed prescription. In 1996, he first started the digital conversion of the analog track on songs from cassettes for this book. Dr. Purnendu Bikash Sarkar was given the Ananda Puroshkar for this year. The speciality of this book was that it contained QR Code in each page and only a smart phone was needed to listen to the song. No YouTube or any other medium is needed. This book was published by Ananda Publishers.
