Raimatang is a village in the Alipurduar district of West Bengal. Nestled among the lush green forest, the villages hardly have any access to the basic health facilities. In our attempt to help them, Ophthalmological Society of West Bengal conducted their eye screening camp here. Our President Dr. Ratish Chandra Paul, Hony. Secretary Dr. Debashis Das, Past President Dr. Monoj Hajra, Chairperson Community Ophthalmology Dr. Sohini Ghosh, and local coordinator Dr. Meghnad Bhowmik were present. Under the able guardianship of Dr. Bhowmik, and his team of optometrists it was possible to do the camp in such a remote area. The village area needed to be reached after crossing a river bed. The people were simple and warm. They greeted us and started the Inauguration Ceremony by singing a local village song. Overall, it was a satisfactory and worthwhile experience.
