District Outreach Meeting of North 24 Parganas, at Newtown

District Outreach Programme had a total of 66 members attending, the event started with paying our respect to the senior members of Ophthalmological Society of West Bengal.

26 speakers spoke on variety of topics like Cornea, Refractive, Glaucoma, Uvea, and Retina with relevant discussions for comprehensive ophthalmologists.

Chairperson for the Cataract Session was Dr Asit Chakrabarti.

Panelists for Cataract session was Dr Lav Kochgaway, Dr Sanjib Banerjee, Dr Pradip Ghosh, Dr Koushik Basu, and Dr Arindam Deb. The session was moderated by Dr Arup Bhowmik. Dr Siddhartha Ghosh spoke on achieving target emmetropia. Dr. Sagar Bhargav presented Phaco surgery in nanophthalmic eyes. Dr. Mrinmoy Das and Dr Rakhi Sen spoke about management of PCR. Dr Shibashis Das presented on how to manage subluxated cataract.

Glaucoma session was moderated by Dr Sutapa Roy. Panelists were Dr Nilay Kumar Majumder, Dr Sanjay Kumar Daulat Thakur, Dr Sumit Chaudhuri, Dr Abhijit Pal. Dr Sutapa Roy shared her thoughts on Uveitic Glaucoma. Dr Sumit Chaudhury presented his topic on neovascular glaucoma. Dr Nilay Kumar Majumdar spoke on primary angle closure disease. Dr Nazneen Nazm presented a case series on lens induced glaucoma.

Cornea session was moderated by Dr Aditya Pradhan. Panelists for this session were Dr Kushal Choudhuri and Dr Tuhin Chowdhury. Dr. Aditya Pradhan spoke on pearls in ocular allergy management. Dr Mrinmoy Das presented a case series of cataract surgery post therapeutic PKP. Dr Soham Basak's topic of presentation was DALK.

Paediatric and Neurophthalmology session was moderated by Dr Udbuddha Dutta. Panelists were Dr Apala Bhattacharya, Dr Paromita Sanatani, Dr Anuradha Chandra. Dr Udbuddha Dutta spoke on important signs and symptoms which are not to be missed in children. Dr Anuradha Sen presented on a practical approach to manage visual loss in children. Dr Stuti Agarwal shared her thoughts on management of diplopia in children. Dr Tulika Ghoshal spoke on unmasking the maze in neuro-ophthalmology.

Retina and Uvea session was moderated by Dr Sudipta Das. Panelists for this session were Dr Debmalya Das, Dr Debashis Das, Dr Amitabh Kumar, and Dr Debasis Bairagi. Dr Sudipta Das spoke on various techniques of secondary IOL implantation. Dr Sangeeta Roy presented an interesting case on cataract surgery in iridofundal coloboma. Dr Soumava Mondal shared a video on challenging VR surgery in traumatic haemorrhagic choroidal detachment. Dr Anindya Kishore Mazumder shared his insights in managing exudative RDs. Dr Smrita Sandhu shared her pearls in diagnosing ocular sarcoidosis. Dr Anirban Chakrabarti presented an interesting case of nodular posterior scleritis.

Oculoplasty session was moderated by Dr Sanchita Roy. Panel for this session were Dr Madhusmita Behera, Dr Sabita Katoch, Dr Md Shahid Alam, and Dr Chandana Chakraborty. Dr Rajesh Mazumder Chowdhury spoke on decision making in evisceration and enucleation. Dr Anirban Bhaduri shared his thoughts on recent advances in management of OSSN. Dr Salil Mandal presented on modified Cutler Beard procedure. Dr Swarup Pathak described a few interesting and challenging surgical cases in Oculoplasty.

The programme was concluded by a vote of thanks by Dr Anirban Chakrabarti and Dr Debashis Das.
